Hello! I recently decided to get a mod going with Source DK, the actual idea started as Combine Tetris - a game where you gathered a group of citizens to entertain yourself, ordering the to move as tetraminos.
But after some thinking I found out that I probably wouldn't be able to move and grid tetraminos correctly as NPCs, and high amount of NPCs could cause too much rendering and such...
Then the idea morphed into a medieval mod, a gate to Xen opens in a nearby shrine and aliens swarm around (Combine Tetris > Medieval Half-Life). You are the townsfolk that try to protect the town from swarming aliens and close the gate to Xen.
I'm thinking of it as a co-operation game that uses HL2:DM as base for multiplayer.
P.S: While I was browsing in some SDK help site I noticed Age of Chivalry and got miserable after thinking alot on the mod. Hopefully that was some total Medieval conversion, while I was thinking to use Xen and existing citizen models to keep the Half Life feeling
And I also learned that I could not develop total-conversion mods with latest Source SDK, but I could with 2007 one. Now I'm confused seeing loads of people having 1,000 hours spent with Source SDK but 50~ with Source SDK 2007 or 2006.
Where to start and what to use?
THANKS!
--I know that it will be really hard to get a total-conversion by myself but I got plenty of free time and in case I progress some far to get more members - I surely will
