Haven't logged in since early 2008, getting back into mapping/modeling. It appears that there is still modding community for the source engine. Stoked!

That part is you, but you still love Source on the inside.

Count me in. Working with source is like trying to have sex with your dick in your pants.

Still do it though.

It's not that bad. Better than working with Id Tech4 and gtkradiant in my opinion...

Gradient is not as user friendly as Hammer and it's what I learned on

I learned DarkGradient after Hammer. I like Hammer better, though I never gave Gradient the same amount of time I gave Hammer. Although DarkGradient was more stable.

But, Hammer is not comparable to say, the UDK or the CryEditor.

The engine codebase we modders have(Src07) is not too great in comparison to the newer versions of Source. We got the ASW codebase, but if you want something like a FPS or something along those lines you will have a lot of work on your plate. I would of tried to make a third person shooter on the ASW engine, but I can't find anything for enemy/ally AI(plus the engine no longer has any brush entities or proper optimization).
