Desktop/Taskbar Mod Icon

Postby AlphaKennyOne on Thu Apr 26, 2007 10:31 pm

Not sure if this is exactly the right place, but i'll give it a shot. I created this icon for the little single-player project i'm working on:

I have a smaller version for the Steam games list, which shows up just fine. However, how can I make the above icon appear in the bottom Taskbar as the game is running, and as a desktop icon, should someone click the "Create desktop shortcut" option from the games listing?

I have that icon saved as a .png, .tga, .vtf and .ico, so i'm reaady for any option (hopefully.)

Put the .ico version in the same place as your .tga icon and give them the same name, i.e.

icon.tga, icon.ico

and make sure the line

icon "icon"

is in your gameinfo.txt. if the icons are in your resource folder it would be

icon "resource/icon"

and it should work fine

Yep, that's how I have mine set up, but it doesn't appear. It just uses the default HL2 icon for the Taskbar, and the Steam icon for the Desktop icon.

On an off-topic note, Mr Happy, you once mentioned that you were having problems with your mod dissappearing off the SDK list. I found that if you set the GameConfig.txt to read-only, it won't delete your mod. You just wouldn't be able to add new mods to it, or reset the game configurations until you uncheck the "Read Only" flag in the properties.
