modify vs start from scratch

Postby alpha2018 on Sat Jun 09, 2007 9:46 pm

Hi, I'm new to the HL2 SDK. I'm attempting to create a total conversion. Would I be better off choosing the "modify hl2 multiplayer" or the "start a mod from scratch" option? If I choose to start from scratch, will there still be a skeletal model for multiplayer gameplay that I could follow or would I find myself rewriting lots of code that would otherwise be available to me in an hl2mp build? Thanks

The HL2MP would be your best option. But if you're really into C++ I'd say from scratch :)

If you're new to the SDK, I don't recommend attempting a TC. Start with something that is still within the realm of the HL2 universe just so that way you have exposure to how the SDK works. It can be a simple mini mod if you want. So I think starting with modified HL2 code would be best.
