Hey all,

I don't know if there is a fix for this but I thought I'd post and see if anyone has some advise. I'm trying to get a series of custom sound effects to work for the annabelle rifle/shotgun that Grigori uses in HL2. I had a working version in Episode 2, but in HL2 - nothing changes.

I just discovered that HL2 (running on the new orange box engine) no longer has an entry for the Annabelle weapon in the game_sounds_weapons.txt file in the /scripts folder. The weapon sounds like a normal shotgun in-game (as it always did, despite having a unique set of lines that used the same SFX as the shotgun in the game_sounds_weapons.txt list) but now, I cannot change any of the firing sounds because it's as if the weapon doesn't exist. The game mounts info only from hl2, and I've copied over game_sounds_weapons.txt from Episode 2 (which is identical to the best of my knowledge, sans the missing annabelle rifle data).

Edit: My memory may be wrong, did HL2 ever have an entry for the annabelle weapon in the game_sounds_weapons.txt file? In either case, the one that exists in my Episode 2 client (either because I added it in and forgot or otherwise) has an effect - the one in HL2 doesn't.

It's not game breaking or anything, but I liked having a little audible variation between the shotgun and Grigori's unique rifle. Any help is appreciated.

(Also, I've rebuilt the soundcache in HL2 if that matters)
