I'm trying to experiment a little with basic Source modding, and my first self-appointed mission is to triple the firerate of the smg from Episode 2. My experiment turned out to be a little trickier than I though, however.
I began by setting up a mod, using this tutorial:

It all went fine. So I continued along and found this tutorial:

Now, it seems to me that this in the right track. But I can't seem to find the files they are speaking of, which leads me to assume that Valve has modified their file architecture since this piece was authored. I'm a bit lost. I am hoping that someone with experience on the subject could give me a quick but comprehensive guide on how to achieve what I would have expected to be a pretty uncomplicated goal. Thank you!
