CSS and overlapping images

Postby unclep4ul on Mon Sep 03, 2007 11:08 pm

Ok, am looking for a little help with designing a website in Expression Web.

I am trying to place an 'interactive button' on top of an image. I am new to using CSS for layouts and all the different setting for 'divs' are confusing me.

Can anyone give me quick idea how to achieve this? Or should I be saving this for when I am more proficient?!

Also any links to good tutorial sites would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks, that site looks very useful!

Think I am just gonna create a new style for each div in which I need a overlapping image and have the bottom image as the background, until I learn a bit more. Just hope I dont need to overlap 3 images anytime soon!!

You should be able to just use the background image function to allow you to put items over the top of things. As well as that CSS also supports z-index which allows you to stack multiple elements and choose what order as well.

For that to work though, it has to be absolutely positioned - http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_pos_z-index.asp
