Two comments:
- splash-screen is a no-no if you ask me, it doesn't add anything (but that's just my opinion in general not specific in this case)
- for the title-texts I'd choose a different, more outspoken font. And also keep the font-sizes equal that will give much more consistency.
that's about it..
I agree with everything this guy said. Mainly that a splash screen means you needs= to chop and change the interface. I prefer to have a fixed structure for all content.
RE: Flash. except for cool little scripts that expand and contract thumbnail images, I don't think flash is a wise choice for a portfolio. I won't touch a site that is completely embeded in flash. It drowns out your work ans really isn't necesarry. I'd stick to good ol' html and a stylish print design layout. It's fast loading, does the job and works on any system.
Like 904 said, think about font too, or "typography" as old fashioned people like myself refer to it. Here's some very simple font tips:
Don't use more than 2 fonts, you only need one for titles and one for content.
Use the same fonts on every page.
Choose 2 fonts from different families (San-Serrif, Serrif, Decorative or Script). It's possible to combine any of them effectively and generally preferable to use 2 from different families.
Lastly you may want to choose a more neutral, boring looking colour scheme. This will make your work pop out of the pages instead of getting lost in the layout.
