Portfolio Redesign

Postby Psy on Fri Dec 19, 2008 11:38 am

So today I decided to release my newly redesigned portfolio alongside arena_lighthouse as well as redoing my thread in the portfolios section. It's fairly simple and borrows the same colour scheme from the Decadence website (yeah, I'm coming clean already :P ) but I am quite happy with the layout but the resume feels a little less structured so I'd be happy to get some feedback on that.

Dude, i really like your portfolio. It is really simple and holds only the necessities. Mind if I try out the layout?

A lot of portfolios look the same because they cover the same content. There's no need to make it all fancy. As everybody would say, "Simplicity is the key".

Read this. It'll help.

Maybe you can add this for your images, so the images dont open in new tabs/windows.

So I've just uploaded a new version of the site which includes the following changes...

  • Added Lightbox for scriptalicious goodness!
  • Added the following sections to navigation; Links, Work (Anchored Hyperlinks), 'Currently Working On' and Links.
  • Added comments and feedback section for Arena Lighthouse. I plan to do the same with Paradigm Decay once it's released.

Any thoughts, comments, criticisms?

Looks pretty nice there Psy, I do have a few suggestions however.

  • A bigger line height for the body paragraphs, it just seems a bit too cramped.
  • Maybe spruce up the sidebar links a bit, they're kinda bland at the moment.
  • Make the overall site a tad wider, so there's a bit more whitespace between the sidebar and the main content.

Other than that, it's pretty swish dude :)
I design (v4.1 released 23/2) and Tweet.

  • Increased line-height for the body paragraphs
  • Increased sidebar font-size
  • Added icons under the 'contact' section
  • Moved sidebar and main section over
  • Increased width of the main section
  • Added sexy quotation divs
  • Updated 'Making Of Lighthouse' page to use the new style sheet
