Here... Please note that the pictures are uncut:

What do you think? Perhaps an animated effect and a persistent selection could actually work out.

Blekks, well, I used to be really, REALLY bad at handling criticism... Uhm... Got some incidents I'm not too proud of :) Anyway, when you're right you're right.
Effectiveness is essential so I don't think a slider will work out too well in the long run - but thanks. What do you think about my suggestion above?

It need's to be more round/web2.0 and yeah a animation effect would be nice.
Possibly greyscale untill you hover over it?

I don't know I think those strips are too thin, I went for 3 because I mean it's a nice manageable number, you still get a reasonable chunk of a screenshot and it makes it not too cluttered.

Yeah, I just played around a bit, and having all maps lines up as thing strips just isn't effective; even when expanded they give nothing more than a cheap idea of the rough concept of the map. I'm affraid I'll have to give it up and find another solution...

I wouldnt get too worked up about how your website looks. I was on a digital artists web site a few weeks ago (forgot his name), his art was incredible but his website was just awful. But it didnt matter, because no one went there to look at his website.

As long as it doesnt burn your retinas off and its kept fairly simple it'll be fine.

rewKe
Indeed, the site itself is not an argument. Still, it needs to emphasize the artist's work or it will be for nothing. Furthermore, my statistics show that my complex menu system causes users to view about 1.5 pages in average - they see my front page, wonder why nothing is there, click to another page, wonder some more, and leave the site.

So. I think I'll do something like this:

Simple and shit. What do you think?

I think it's pretty much the same as the last version of yours except it's white and the things are vertical instead of 2x2.

Maybe get the dimensions so that one map would fit in one screen size?
