Finally decided to make a portfolio site

Looks pretty good my only suggestion is more media and art to show off.

start again in word press, seriously. It allows you to create nice looking sites for free and there are no ads. Ads are an extremely negative thing to have on your portfolio.

well thats not all you need to do, find a host thats cheap but offers auto installs. Makes things extremely easy. Dreamhost, Bluehost, etc. any big hosting service usually have this. Then find yourself a portfolio theme for wordpress, there's lots out there!

One reason I went with the site that I have now is because it's free. I might just stick with it until I get some income, it's tough being a college student financially

I used www.000webhost.com a while back, it was good then, but I haven't used it recently. It gives you server space and SQL databases for free and without advertisements.

Not its not. You only need one of them if the Free 3gb wordpress site isnt enough.
