This is awesome. Every square inch made of pure win. It's so much better than all those wake-up-lost-memory-kick-combine-ass-escape singleplayer maps. Also, is it just me, or is R&D almost as long as a Valve Episode? Valve, hire this guy now. He'll finish Ep3 for you, and will do it in finite time span.

The SIZE of his mod isn't as big as either of the episodes, but the LENGTH can equal one depending on who's playing it.

Like if someone's terrible at puzzles, it could easily take as long as an episode or more. My play time was around an hour, whereas Episode Two took me roughly 2 hours.

I agree though, Matt should be picked up by Valve.

thus not a true HL fan...

I wish matt would get back to me (or anyone) about an interview! Although I will admit, I kind of love him for being the polar opposite of hype machines like Neotokyo or Black Mesa.

This mod is pure secks. Two bugs I have run into.

1:In the first room, the cable somehow stretched and connected to both plugs, and did not set off the event. I had to restart, which was fine, as I was only 5 minutes into it.

2: When you put the cube into the first microwave, I tossed it back into the previous room for some reason, only to discover that I needed it again. The wall had already collapsed, though.

Performance wise, it is amazing, as I am running it on all high, textures at -10, 8MSAA, etc, with no LOD and such, and it never dips below 50 FPS. Fantastic.

You wont hear me saying this ever again, but:

this mod kicks so much ass, it launches the balls on the other side of the asses to the next line of asses, which in turn are hit so hard their balls are launched to the next wave of asses, and so on, until this chain reaction leaves the entire planet with males with no balls and very bruised asses.

The only bug i found was inthe playarea with the smart bombs, with the fuse maze puzzle, you can jump on the fuse box onto the rail of the door, making this part very easy.

Every half-ass HL fan should own and play this too. Several times. If they hired Minerva's creator, they have already hired this guy long ago.

my sentiments exactly, but this mod kicked my ass so hard i didn't have the balls left to speak up so boldly.

Just finished it this weekend, and this is really an amazing mod.
What i enjoyed the most was that it wasn't frustrating at all, all the puzzles where nicely planned, with really smart visual clues on what to do, and with a nice progression in the level of difficulty. I was always expecting to have to go back, or get stuck on some really retarded puzzle with an esoteric solution, but that didn't happened at all, and i was really pleased when i got to the end in just one go.
Another strong point is that it was just "long enough", it lasted exactly the amount of time i was hoping, and that is something that many single player mods fail to do.
But there are also some not so good points. The first one being that there is no re-playability value at all. After you finish it the first time, trying to finish a second time is kind of pointless since you already know the solution for all the puzzles. However i think this would be a great candidate for a speed run video.
Second not so good point was the vehicle part. Although the puzzles where really smart and funny, vehicle physics suck in source, and using the air-boat movement really ruined that section. If you ever make a sequel try to avoid vehicles as much as possible, or try to get some custom movement code for them.

Finally judging from everyones reaction to this mod, EP3 (if it ever gets released) should have more of this kind of gameplay and less gun fights. Seems like everyone is getting tired of shooting zombies and combines, and since physics plays such a big role in HL2, more puzzles would allow the series to be more distinguishable from the rest of the games out there.
I've no sign
