fz_Icebox_beta1 is an "updated" fy_brickworld
It is my second map if you count fy_brickworld
It isn't quite finished yet but it works fine. ( I might add a few barrels and other dynamic props)
It has 64 player/weapon spawns + four scout spawns.
BTW if the ladders and things look like crap, it is because of my video card.

I said its ok, but only because brickworld, which this essentially is, was worse. Considering its a funmap its decent, but one thing that I noticed is that the spawn zones are about 3 seconds apart from each other, and anyone who goes up one of the ladders at spawn is an easy target to an enemy at the other spawn.

I could always make the big center wall taller, I think im going to put barrels on the ground. Maybe ill put some cars on the ground. I found the ground parts to be a little plain.

The name icebox kinda put me off, but it looks OK. You need to sort out your textures though. Cliff textures look too tiled. And you need to vary that brick texture. Putting it on every face of a room does not look nice.

You get the point? Ice doesn't always means little variation in colors. You could try the old icy map from CS 1.5 (don't remember its name, though - it is where you have that crashed airplane). That map is damn interesting with falling bridges, spectacular and varying visuals, cliffs, a town, and even the a-team van.
Your map is fine, technically, but you have some road to go through still until your maps look like the real pros' ones. I'm in the same boat as you are, actually, just learning... So keep it up!

No, there's no reason in copying it. I simply wanted the dude to have an example of an interesting icey map. I figured it was a good example... And the A-Team van was just too awsome :D :D

looks ok as its one of ur first, i admit theres not really a lot of textures u can use for ice, only ones from office, maybe you could update it in the future when some more are around :wink:
