[Release] de_munitions (v1.0 Final)

Postby daz* on Tue Dec 07, 2004 3:24 am

Hi,

Ok so I've tweaked the map as much as I can and added the following since v0.9 Beta:

1> Optimizations to VIS - particularly in the starting areas and bomb-sites.
2> More rounded and detailed brush work in some areas.
3> More cover and objects
4> Optimized brushwork by using detail-brushes.
5> lighting tweaks
6> Removed rope-swing and fire entities.
7> added some decals
8> some geometry fixes.

What I can't do is work miracles. There are some problems with this map due to bad planning but on the whole I wouldnt release it if I thought it was crap. It should be best played with 10 - 24 players as it is quite large but due to the design it should filter all the action to certain 'hot-spots' in the map.

I have worked on this a little too long now and want to use my skills on a clean new project!
PLEASE TRY THIS and give feedback as I *MAY* be tempted to fix any glaring issues with this map.

Ok, so this is my quick site just to host my maps.

Looks nice and original.

You have got different ares which is nice as it adds variation.

Lets hope its not all eye candy and plays well.

Please post yer findings.

I don't claim it to be the best map architecturally or gameplay wise. Some of the design is bad, the layout is OK but not enough variation on the z-axis. It's a quite large level from one side to the other but 'relatively' flat. I wish I had designed it more bunched up but stacked up with stairways and overhangs etc....you live and learn!

next map will be everything i've learnt from doing this map (a LOT) so everything will be better.

To anyone who has downloaded the map and tested it for me - I thank you for being patient. Post any major issues you have or anything else.

Cheers

oh i know. It's just released really as part of the learning process. to get feedback on how it plays. This was the last version I am really going to make of this map so therefore it gets released as-is. Then people will hopefully try it and the feedback I get from my so-called finished map helps me make my future maps better.

Has anyone actually played it? so far people are just commenting on the screenshots....its only a 2.6mb download! :)

very kind, young sir! you obviously haven't played it yet right? hehehe

Seriously, It's a start is all I can say. It has potential and maybe if I tweaked and polished it, redesigned some of the layout and scrapped other parts then I'd have a decent map. But from where i'm looking, I just want to move onto a better map now.
