Dark Energy - Half-Life 2 Machinima

Postby VoEC on Thu Mar 29, 2012 11:00 pm

First of all, since I'm new here: Hi everyone!

I created a short machinima called "Dark Energy". It's about the character of Breen and the ending of HL2.
Nothing fancy, but I hope you like it anyway.

PS: If this is the wrong forum, I apologize and please move this to the right place. I saw some other machinimas here so I hope it's Ok.
PPS: I'm also looking forward to posting some "real" content here a.k.a. level/environment designs.

I thought it was pretty great honestly, not the typical machinima either. Whats the name of that half life track you used? And welcome to the fourms!

Thanks for the feedback and the welcome! :)

I searched if the track had an official name, but I couldn't find anything.
The filename is "VLVX_song19b.mp3", it's an HL2: Episode 1 song. I edited it a bit to make it longer.

The song sounds like the track that plays when you first enter the core room in Episode 1.

I thought this was related to Mass Effect somehow for some reason...

Very nice. I understand it wasn't very action oriented, but the pacing was quite slow with a lack of interesting content at a few points. I did like the colors and camera movement though. Nice work.

It sadens me that I have not given more thought of why Breen actually did the things he did, and why he of all humans agreed with the combine, more than just beeing a very evil guy^^
So I want to thank you for enlighting me of his role in the game hehe, and it is cool, cuse I read the metro 2033 book some mounths ago and they also talk about some kinds of human evolution, and that there really is nothing that says the umans must live on forever. Though with a hero as Gordon, it will not be an easy fight :D

Anyway, for the movie it self I liked it. Was abit disspointed that eli or breen was not shown more on the screen. But the mode and setting was almost spot on. How much did thought of taking the combine architecture further then valve has, cuse you used more arcs and such, and even props? Dunno why but I liked this, raised the bar some steps :)

I believe that, at the center of the multiverse, there stands a Dark Tower that props up all realities...

...and the Combine are trying find it, destroy it, and replace it with a citadel.
