Speed Model Challenge #3 - Musical Instruments

Postby BaRRaKID on Sat Mar 01, 2008 7:41 pm

The last challenge went great, thanks guys :D
Now it's time for SMC #3, don«t forget to always post:

- A render
- A wireframe
- Tri count
- Time spent creating the model

For this challenge you will have to create Musical Instruments (thanks stoopdapoop). You have 120minutes (2 full hours) to create the model. The model cannot be skinned, but you can post a skinned version as an wip.
Don't forget that the 2hours are just to be used as a reference. It's ok if you take more than that to create the model.

We recommend that you post your final picture using a clay render, click here to learn how to do it.

The rules can be found here
Here are some links with reference images:

(sorry guys, couldn't find more links!)

The challenge will end tomorrow at around 8pm GMT, go here to see how much time you've left.

Good Luck everyone :)

This is the greatest challenge idea ever, I'm curious what models everyone will come up with, and maybe we should make the models from our contests available for download because some of them are really useful?

cool, i was wondering when u would start it so i could get some ideas going in my head, but i already got a great idea for this one. If my modelling capabilities allow it, i'll enter a saxofone tomorrow because it was made in my country, Belgium, by Adolf Sax.

edit: too tired atm, will start tomorrow on this.

I'll attempt to make a model before I have to go to my G-Ma's B-Day shindig. I'll put it in the Model pimpage Thread if I don't get it done in time along with my first Speed Challenge pseudo-entry. Eventually.

Edit: 40 minutes of modeling so far, but I'm out of time and I need to go. I never get to finish my models...

Edit II: Almost forgot the tricount: 2148

Strings weren't modeled because in a real model they'd be part of the texture.

It's a harp!
