Modelling Challenge - Around the House

Postby RawMeat3000 on Sat Nov 14, 2009 4:55 am

Today's model battle ladies and gents, is a special one. It will feature fully textured models, that must also be compiled for the Source engine, as well as prizes, being Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands, with the additional option of choosing any game from Steam within the $10-20 range, provided by the great and wonderful Surfa! The 1st place winner will get to choose between the 3 prizes, 2nd place chooses between the remaining two, and 3rd place get's the leftovers.

Remember that your finished product must be a fully game ready model, so keep in mind things like triangle counts and texture sizes.

As for rules, your entry must be fully textured and ready to use ingame, so compile it first (for the Source engine, of course). You must provide at least one screenshot of your model ingame with a maximum of 3 images total. Post your triangle counts, as well as links to your image maps, and model files. You can create as many props as you like as long as they all fit on the same 1024 x 1024 diffuse map (anything smaller is fine). Keep in mind that you may only submit one of each type of map, so only one diffuse, one normal, one spec, etc, etc.

It must be submitted before Friday the 27th at midnight.

Good luck guys, and I'll see you at the finish!

Just for the sake of conistency, can we have a 1024 by 1024 texture limit, but as many maps as we want (ie: spec, normal, phong, phong exponent, and whatever else)

Anything above 1024 would be over kill anyway, so yeah 1024 by 1024 limit.

And you just gave me an idea for a new rule.

It's not one texture, it's a 1024x1024 texture space. That's 4 512x512 maps. Or one 1024x1024 map. At least that's how I think he meant you to use it.

Gee I'd love to compete but for unknown reasons, Wunderboy's SMD exporter has decided to give me problems that no other user has experienced. Wunderboy can't figure it out, either. :(

I could make a prop...but compiling it is another thing. Oh well...

Damnit! I know EXACTLY what I want to model, too.

Just send the model to another max user, and have them export it as an SMD

Nub! I've had a problem that no one had ever seen before, and Jed couldn't work it out either! What was yours? (It's like playing trumps!)
