Speed Challenge 28 - Oil

Postby RawMeat3000 on Mon May 24, 2010 11:11 pm

As promised in Le Thread Randome, here's the latest and greatest speed challenge, Oil Rigs! Sorry that it's been almost 4 months since the last model battle, I felt people needed a nice long break from this stuff so that when it came back it would be fresh and new not because I'm lazy or unmotivated or anything like that).

1st place gets my everlasting love and respect (it's worth a lot), 2nd gets a pat on the back (not worth as much).

3rd place gets ಠ_ಠ

The rules are all pretty standard:

Model must be made in 2 hours or less

You can't reuse old models

Post wireframes and renders here (limit 3 images but preferably 2), along with triangle counts, amount of time taken and a 1000 word essay explaining why you think you should win.

You can use any render setting, materials and textures you want, as long as it's all from scratch.

Rules thread is here in case I forgot anything, but it's crap anyway.

The battle will probably end on Sunday at midnight, May 30th, GMT -8, Pacific Standard Time. Possibility of an extension if it's needed.

So I think that covers everything. Good luck and godspeed everyone, I'll see you all at the finish!

I also think it should be a smaller prop, or a theme with more wiggle room, we're gunna get a lot of similar looking oil rigs. And it seems like it might be a difficult model for a beginner to try to tackle in 2 hours.

: (

What if I changed the theme to just Oil? That opens it up quite a bit I think. Silos, pipelines, tankers, oil drums, those should be noob friendly.

I'm going along with the "oil" theme cause that's more open. Anyway good luck sirs.
