Alright everyone, this is the very first map ive even tried making. I've been hovering the boards for some time reading up on this and got interested in mapping over the past week. I've had no mapping experiance once so ever so please be kind! (Although, having 4 years of CAD may help) But anways..heres a look at my first map called de_urban

The main object of the map right now is to bomb one bombsite (A) which is located in the basement of an office. It will take place outdoors in the streets of a city and also in office buildings


This is inside the first room in the hallway..just a basic lobby

This is the hallway (the second door on the left is another room like the previous..just not done yet w/ entities so i didnt bother showing it)

This is the end of the hall when you open the door (goes to bomb site A)

This is once you go down the stairs to site A..the picture doesnt show it but the wire has sparks and theres a light_spot flickering creating a cool effect..theres a tunnel in the corner (sewer) which will connect up into the street (last photo)

This is at the opposite end of the hallway (go down stairs and you see this) made a car crashing through a wall..i have yet to add the pieces and theres a env_steam coming out of the hood

This is the parking garage (T spawn as of now)

And finally you get out into the street from the garage (there will also be a sewer that you can access here...this part is where i've left off so far)

AND THATS IT SO FAR!! Let me know what you think (let me remind you that i know some brushwork and entities arent lookin right as of now, but im not even close to being done)

for a first map that isnt bad at all.. god i wish it was this easy to map when i first started with World Craft for Quake 1.. argh and im still pretty bad at it thats sad

Well the experiance in CAD pays off. This is excellant and when you consider its a first attempt its something else.

Hey everyone I really appreciate all the positive comments you guys have all left me. Im going to be working with this map for a while trying to perfect it and actually make it into something.

Anything you guys want to see, change, add? Feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do..

mebe change the name? i think someone released a piss poor effort of a map called de_urban a while ago

You could de_urbanterror? It's hard to think of names for this ma without using urban

It's nice but I don't think your texturing matches a whole lot. You have a big rusted utility door with a nice wallpaper and wood board wall on the other side. Speaking of which that texture doesn't really make me think office building it's more of a household wall covering. Other than that it's looking good.

Yeah you make a good point. I'll go back and change the inside textures and the door textures so they actually look like a nice office buildling. Thanks for the advice

I've been moving along some in this map and have some new screens for you guys to look at.

Here is what the outside is now shaping up as. I've added a sniper building for everyone to have their awp whoring fun. And there is now a truck blocking the entrance down into the sewer system

This is in the back of the city where the T's will spawn. I made it so the CT's will spawn in the office complex near the garage

Finally, here is what it looks like outside from the window of the sniper building (You can barely make it out cause I just realized I took a bad pic...but down by the turned truck you can see where you will enter down into the sewer system via the manhole)

I think there are some textures out of place still and glass does not look right in that indoor shot. Did you make the framed glass breakable?

So I've been holding back on getting these updated pictures on here but here they are:

Went back and changed the layout of the hallway inside. Got rid of a few things

This is a hallway that leads to the outside area of the city from the office building. Think of it as a back hallway for the office..
