(W.I.P.) dm_District33

Postby ultranew_b on Wed Jan 05, 2005 4:51 pm

Hey guys, here are some W.I.P pics of my new level, dm_District33. It is medium to large sized and has some fairly good flow and z-action, you can fight from the rooftops down to the sewers. I have been working on it for about a week and half. It's about 90% complete now, just working heavily on optimization atm. I'm fairly new to hammer, this being my second map.

Any comments, crits and/or suggestions would be welcome, thanks. :D

Update and release coming very soon !!

I'm glad, I was worried seeing as HL2 editing is so much easier and still rubbish maps were coming out, but this is pleasing to the eye and some effort has been spent on it.

Good work

Cool map. The only thing I can think of that may need work are the shadows. It's probably just the pictures, but the shadows look darker than usual (unless you want players to completely disappear). Still looks good though.

really good, altough imo this "urban maps" are to easy to do in source, since the big part of the models/materials are made for that theme.. but it looks really nice good work ;)

sexerific :P i like it althought the sewer cap in screenie too seems a little blocky i spose, if it is a brush, u can just up the amount of sides without losing much, this is the source engine after all

Looks really good, high detail and well thought out. I do think, however, there needs to be more light. The feeling you have for your map is unique and could potentially be ruined by upping the intensity of the light_enviornment, so consider turning the street lights on. This will preserve the lighting contrast you have, but also make the high traffic areas easier to play in.

Keep us updated, though! This map is looking really good, and I definately agree with the suggestion to enter it in VALVe's contast when you're done.

Thanks for the great comments and suggestions. I'm incorporating all your suggestions, I agree with them all. :D

I will most likely be entering the level into the competition. Can't hurt to try.

I will definetly be posting updates and releasing a download link when it's ready.
