Well going back to your water. It looks like you have some pretty buggered up water. Is it just the screen shot or is it a little knackered?

Well, i compiled it after deleting the skybox and the other scenery so that i could just get an idea of how il would look. It turned out to dark to see anything. which was annoying cuz it took all night. Im thinking of putting it inside, so that i can put a roof over the stuff and i could separate some areas, but i would like it outside. I also thought i could just make it really foggy so you cant see to far into the distance and i wouldnt need a very big skybox. I like the second idea better, but then its still hard to separate the areas from each other! What should i do???

why not put in some buildings to breack up the action? and instead of fog, put in some jets of steam. Cooling towers what not.

I got a few new pictures with fog:

It looks great, i think i might keep it like that, maby add some snow, when you are playing it has a great feel to it. The only big problem i have now is the way that the fog just ends, it dosent blend into the sky like id want it to. I probably just need to get the fog the right colour.

I would recommend more work before release.

With that kind of detail (pipes etc) you'll have to go through reeeeealy carefully setting up func_details, hint brushes etc. Otherwise it'll be really laggy.

The fog looks nice. Personally i'd break it up, as someone said, with a few bigger buildings and interior areas. Adds more variation, helps ppl know their way around, and stops them having to look at the same wall o' pipes the whole time.

looking good though.

quite annoyed, i'm working on a similar concept. grrrr.....but mines desert, not cold n snowy :)

I would just release it for testing, ie a beta. Im fairly sure that people will be able to find their way arround because although there are lots of similar pipes, there is always a bit of scenery around so you can tell where you are. But il wait and see what other people say.

I rekon thats great, i never see any maps like this, they are always in the city or based around a central building or something. Its nice to see different ideas now and then.

Agreed. Soucre is pushing up people's visual expectations, which makes them more imaginitive.
