Working on Optimization-

I removed some extra water area. Removed excess displacement maps that were't showing. Tweaked the hint brushes a little more. Working removing extra faces on models. Working on a shadowlod for trees as not to cast expenive shadows, due to leafs being faces. Fixed glass fitting thur the frame. Set fade distace on trees. Removed some trees. May add occluders under displacement maps.

Other things
Got the props to cast shadows.
Got the golf balls to sink in water.
Built custom shattering glass, now it looks cleaner (not office glass). Has 'etched surface" look.
Switched sky textures.
Tweak the desk bench lower so it looks like it can be set on.
Added clip around model to prevent player from passing through it.
Changed some textures around the windows in the bar.
Almost finished the trim.
Tweaked the env_light.

Need to frame around glass.


May have found a way to fake balls going in to the cup. That way if your really bored you can really play golf by shooting the ball in with a gun. Need to test still.
May add some more trees if things go well with the occluders and face reducng of tree models.

Here is the link for the current beta. It should be done now. *THANK GOD*. I spent hours every night working out all the details. I am not ready to go prime time on this, yet. I still need to run full vis on it, but it is pretty much as is. I have any lag down to a minumim. I need to mostly test the files to make sure I packed everything together correctly. The map is 21 megs with about 10 megs of supporting files (sounds, textures, and models). Unzip to your counter-strikesource dictory and it all should install correctly. Please let me know if there is any trouble running it. I packed the soundscape and manifest into the bsp, so I need to know if you gettng sounds.

If you would like to give any feedback that is welcome too.

I would have really like to have had drivable carts and golfballs that disapeared when close to the cup, but it is impossble with the CS:S and the source engine right now. The golfballs are just to small to be acted on by the engine, I tried for serveral days to make this work. I even set up a trigger that I activated and it still would not kill, remove, or tranport the model, they have be a certain size before they can be acted upon.

If you would like to test or give feedback and are not able to download the file then I will be happy to repost it. The link is good for 7 days or 25 downloads.

There was an issue with the other beta zip. There was file call new textdocument.txt that caused a hang in the download. Seems you can not have spaces in file names. The older install still should work for looking around.

This one is fixed.

It's seems i'm missing the textures of the ground in the water and the textures of the rocks.


Further more the map looks great and would love to test it out on my server, but with this beta the fps is really bad.
So i'll wait for the optimized version.

Yeh i had the missing texture problem, made it quite hard to see.

Yeah, don't throw in a server yet. I'll get missing textures rounded up put in the zip and run a full vis tonight. It takes about 12 hours to run.

Did the sound work ok?

The "glf_swng.wav" is working fine but the "Fur_Elise.mp3" not can't hear the song.

Also i found a shadow problem with most of the trees
The shadows seem to appear and disapear at certan places/distances

Yeah, I noticed the shadows too. I think it had to do with the displacements map more than anything. I tried a shadow control and that did not work, only made things worse. It something I don't think I can fix. I have several options but the one I have now seems to be the best solution.

Games- could you go back a check the fur_elise.mp3 for me? It's an ambient generic set on a trigger. You need to enter the building and will trigger it. It's in the middle bottom room with the big table and pillars. Stand near the end where you see the picture hanging on the wall. I did increase the radius a little bit more because it was a little soft. When I was play test sometimes it would get knocked out by shooting the glass or making other sounds, but 90% of the time it plays for me.

I moved the missing textures to the correct folder and will be in the next beta test. Everything should be ready to go, so I will run a full compile tonight and should have everthing completed by tomorrow for testing. If all goes well I will place in the completed maps forum.
