This map is loosely based on the Aquatica lab found in the movie Deep Blue Sea.

Completion
Brushwork 98%
Textures 80%
Lighting 80%
Entities 50%
Sound 20%
Optimization 50%

Sorry for the jaggies but I'm running an old Radeon 8500 128

Hopefully it'll be done in the next few weeks. Right now I'm having problems running the map on my clan's server but I think it's the server and not the map.

Anybody know why I can run it on my comp and have people join but when I upload it to a server and attempt to load the map the loading process freezes.
All feedback is welcome.

It works. Goes to all 3 levels. It just needs some alignment at the moment.

I used the tutorial from here. But Interlopers is currently working on their site.

First I made the door itself and used the clip tool to round the corners. Then I made a square brush the same size as the door. I put the door inside the square brush and carved. The corner pieces left over, I selected and tied it to func_detail and then built my walls around that.

I presume you used vertex manipulation to make it more friendly to the engine? If not you should :P

We both had similar ideas :). Yours looks really good btw! I like how you did the doors, was planning on doing that as well. I am using windows with the env_bubble on the outside to give the appearance of being underwater. I also plan on using a ambient_general to make the underwater sounds throughout the lab.

Anyway, looks really good, much better than mine :).

Good luck!!

i rekon you should add frames around the doors. it looks a bit strange just having holes cut in the walls.
