This is my first attempt at a real CS:S map, i have worked long on this and it still is too dark and not as i want it to be but im getting there, here it is (sorry for the lonng post+many pictares[you might have to copy+paste into browser if link doesnt work]) :

Not bad for a 1st map. The outside looks alot better than the inside.

i love it when ppl make round buildings...

Buildings are not always a gigantic cylender. Sure its got maybe 1 or 2 rounded edges.. But its not a sphere...


i suggest you change that a bit!

oh ok good so you do have some better ones....

i was looking at http://www.geocities.com/alkalibeast/de_office0003.jpg and saw that ALL THE BUILDINGS LOOKED LIKE CYLENDERS

no the one you have up there is fine... if you dont have anything round in this forum map desplay every one will flame... keep up the good work though! im not the best mapper either!

looks too clean on the floor and the walls are dirty in the first pic, add some decals for dirt or change your textures to match. Not bad BSP work. I think your lighting need help, too bright in some areas and too dark in others. Do not depend on model for your layout, be more creative inside yoru buildings with BSP brushes. And as personal note- I am getting sick of seeing the same ol textures over and over, try to some custom textures to make it stand out more. Everyone has seen those textures a thousand times now.

I agree with you, i was not sure if i should change the textures but now that i look at it a second time, they are much too repetitive. and i have used pretty many decals, just not enough i guess. btw does anyone know how to make your own decals? or how do i make transparency in a texture?

You have to have Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. There is a tut on snarkpit.com on how to make glass, that should get you started. If you need more help post in the help forums. You will need do learn how to make alpha channels, it's basically a 2nd layer that tells the main image what to show or not show.

its like making a map called "beach_assault" just because you start on a beach.... no1 wants to play cause it has assault in it!

i actually only started calling it like that because it had an office in it, which i thought would be a main part. I actually never thought of keeping that name, its just a placeholder...
