as in, make your own textures in, sya, photoshop, then get them in game? that what you wanna do? There are a few tuts out there, I can give you a quick overview if you like.

But i want to Export Textures from WAD files. would be good to get the Bumbmapping files to.


and while we'r at it. u know a good Beginersguid for maya somewhere on the net??

dunno bout getting them out of WADs. Isnt there an option for it in Hammer somewhere or something?

Once you get them out, you'll have to make your own bump-maps, there's an NVidia photoshop plugin that makes quite good ones. then specify it in your texture's VMT file. Snarkpit haas a pretty good tut on this topic.

eurgh, maya....you gonna start modelling? cos I've seen very little info relating to Maya->HL2. Dunno if there are the right plugins ec available. best of luck though, it can't be any harder than the Max->HL2 workflow.

I've been modeling a bit but not with any huge apps.
The reason why i need to model is taht i want to get some trashcans and other movie related stuff in to the map.

If u take a look in the
"\Steam\SteamApps\username\sourcesdk\maya" dir

u'll find a script to use with maya.

and hl2world tutorials allso has a tutorial that uses maya.

It didn't just take me 3 hours to workout how the hell bumpmaping worked.

anyway here's a pic to celebrate my victory.(still need to work on that texture)

Todays work!!

Been learning about how to make bumpmaps and get them in to hammer.

Allso started to work on the CT spawn, and the main thing i'm thinking of is how to make a really nice city enviorment without doing to much

It looks like shit, mapwise, but it's really cool :shock:

Also I must agree that the wall texture has too much contrast.

like a wider circle of reflectiveness type thing.

Still haven't gott it right tho.


found lots of texture commands but i have to figure out what they can do. only place i found them is hl2world, about 10-15 of them are explained a bit.

the rest are guesssing games for me :)

wow. that is good... and its not even a map yet so you dont know if its good.

Remember, after building cubemaps, it will look diff
