I've been on this forum for quite some time now, but I've never really shown anyone how newbie my work actually is. I'm not so much of a media give-away guy either. Though I'm going to reach out to this community, and see what I can improve on this level by help of your feedback. Which would help me set things straight before actually releasing this level out to the public.

It's basically a small Half-Life 2: Deathmatch map, which is based upon one of my old levels which never really got released. For this, I tried bringing that Source engine feeling into the map, by a lot of playing with the lighting. Also bringing in some of that immenseness you would find in HL2.

Further screenshots might be released later, when I feel they are ready for it.

The level is designed to have one point where most of the action comes together, which is what you see on screenshot 1. There are about 5 levels that are accessible by the player, which means the action gets pretty tense. Now of course, there are indoor area's and other locations around this "core" if you will, too. But the map pretty much flows back into that spot.

I've been lucky to try out this design in a few private play tests.

I was one of the few testers for his map from some of the early stages of it. I’ve got to say that it has evolved so much and is looking much better than before. The game play is awesome, when I played it there were very few props but it was still a great laugh. It’ll be even better with around 10 people running around and blasting at each other. While I was playing I noticed very few bugs, besides the ability to get onto the top of the map – but that will be sorted with some player clipping. All in all this map is really good! I can’t wait for it to be finished. :D

The whole point of me posting this "above" view of the main area, was to collect feedback and see how I could use that to improve the level. So far there hasn't been that much comment in terms of constructive feedback that I was looking for. But the "hey it looks great!" definitely gave a great moral boost.

I'm now looking into enriching the other area's of the level, so that I can post a screenshot of those. Which would help me receive further feedback. Of course, this main area is still being improved.

One of the things that I'm really looking forward to, is the actual frame rate for being such a semi high definition map. So far there is no optimization at all in terms of area portals, hint brushes and what have you. Even though I'm getting a frame rate of 70 and up to 100, using all the highest settings Half-Life 2: Deathmatch supports. I'm also using a 6x AA and 16x AF. Which is pretty neat. I am however, using the latest and gradest hardware for constructing the level.

Further play tests will commence using lower hardware to make sure it runs great on all systems though.

Voicing the earlier question; no, this is not my first map. This would be my first released Source map though.

its just hard to give any feedback with only one picture of the level. if we could play test it, or there was more pictures posted then Im sure people would give you something more than, "It looks great." So I wait anxiously for the new pics....but again, It looks great. So far.
