*Bump*

I practically lived off Gregg's sausage rolls during college in Newcastle - any progress?

Note: Tagline liable to change. It has 4 times since you started reading this sentence. Suggestions welcomed.

How many people are going to see that and think it's the Big Ben clocktower... :|

(general sigh at the world).

Still loving this :)

Oh good grief, my thread has been necro'd.

Right, a few things:

1) I got really bored of L4D1 and 2 and have no motivation to finish this. As it stands there is a playable survival map of one of the main streets of Glasgow, but I'll probably never officially release it.

2) It's clearly not Big Ben, not to mention only about an eighth of the size of it.

3) If anyone wants the many, many materials I made for this - shoot me a PM.
If you want the UK models (traffic light buttons, street bins and such) then you'll have to ask Habboi, as they were made by him on my request.

4) the real reason I'm never going to finish this is that Greggs got shit. The quality of the meat is atrocious now. Used to be so good.

Change the meat then? This was so promising... D:

Well, there would be no point in continuing if you have no motivation, otherwise it would come out like crap.

I may have been joking about 4) being the real reason I stopped :3

I still have all the files, so maybe one day... I spend so long on individual maps that I can see myself devoting a disastrously long time to this. Maybe as a collab it would work, but as it's so based on reality it would be difficult to work with anyone unfamiliar with the area.
Something I've considered is just making a generic UK city campaign. Glasgow-ish, but not Glasgow. That way I'd still be motivated as I'd be able to let my creative juices flow rather than trundling through an attempt at an accurate recreation of a real place.

Dunno... Britain definitely needs to be represented more in the gaming world, though :]

I'm a newbie on the mapping scene, but completely feeling the vibe (though I'm London). Teaching myself Source, I'm using local areas as basis of ideas, currently I'm doing my street, and back-gardens, then going to work on a cricket club map, and probably one based off a local train/bus station, all very rural BRITISH locations.

Take some screens of how it was when you gave up on it! I love seeing Britain in maps.

Rural cricket club is my heaven :) but I guarantee you there won't be a train station in those villages!

Pub, Anglo-Saxon church, willow trees on the stream, and cricket grounds. Oh and the odd Morris Dancer.

My England :D

I know a few rural train stations, hopefully when I get round to it I can make a good mix of real and fictional, I've pretty much got the train station lay out in my head, but how it builds outwards I'm not 100%.

The cricket club map is going to be a laugh though.

I will be interested in this, if only for the British props XD Making a mod set in the UK so i'll be needing some. You need new car and truck models, and an actual Greg's would be a good touch. And some limestone.
That's what she said.

Wow, it's so ironic that I see this thread as I was coming to post a beg for a Double Decker bus model. I'm doing a 28 Weeks Later campaign for Left for Dead 1. I've got level 1 about 50% with a lot of custom textures and I skipped to level three (about 60%) for the World of Level Design 11 Day Challenge. I'd love anything available. Thanks!
