Sadly not. Although they never really worked well online 99% of the time, so i can kinda see why they were dropped.

Nice-looking map, dude! I think the ouside area (with what kinda looks like an empty swimming pool?) in screens 3 & 4 looks kinda bare, a bit bland, and open...maybe tighten it up a bit, or visually crowd it a bit more (displacements, props or something)?

Thx, Jest.

I have major plans for changing much of the brush work around the perimter of the house. I still have quite a few rooms to do, so many materials to finish and props to place. I'm really looking forward to when I can build in stages that make sense. Right now, I'm just all over the place trying to learn as many new things as I can.

I figured I'd start in CSS and work my up!

I'll update the pics when I have made enough progress to warrant it.

What are you referring too, the camera and monitor?

when i play maps I like to have a sense of realism and stle, and where its located, for some reason that always always helps the map gameplay. if you have a good map with brushwork and all and it, well, doesnt have much sceanary, its not a good one for me...

Ahh thanks for the tip ;)

So does the cameras work in CSS now? When I last tried making a camera and monitor it only displayed fuzzyness and I was told that it doesn't work in CSS.

Have they updated it or something?

Anyway nice map. As everyone else has said, the outside looks bare.
I quite like it and the site with the pictures is very nice and easy to use.

Yeah the cameras work great in CSS!

Have you downloaded the FGD file? I made a tut on how to do multiple cameras and monitors. It cycles through each camera due to the limit of only one active camera at one time policy.

The .FGD file will provide you with entities that were previously left out of CSS. It is a must have for CSS mappers.

Well, here is the site for the .FGD file: http://www.editlife.net/files/customfgd.php

For a single camera and monitor:

You need a point_camera and func_monitor entity. Name the camera something like "camera" !! Open the properties for your monitor and look towards the bottom of the list and find "Camera Name" and select the name you made for your camera.

You are ready to test your camera, its that easy (If you installed the .FGD)!

Let me know if this help ya!

Does this mean that the other players have to have the files to see the monitor working?

Or has Valve realised this and updated CSS so it has the folders so that a point camera entity can be seen?

All this does is make certain entities available to you inside hamer that were previously not available for CSS. All these entities already exist for HL2 but were left out of the FGD for CSS. My guess is because they can cause lag if your not careful.

To answer your question, NO, nobody will have to DL anything. Has nothing to do with valve updating anything.

Follow the instructions on the FGD page and you are good to go.

If you notice prior to installing the FGD, there are no point_camera entities available for building CSS maps. Installing this FGD unlocks them for use in CSS. That is it.

****** BUMP ******

After taking a break, I decided it was time for an update. Here it is. Much more on the way. I've recently become more motivated to finish this instead of bouncing around to other unfinished projects! I have a bunch of empty rooms still and have siht loads to do!!

It's late and I'm being lazy, sry for some double shots.

The big TV rotates through 4 cameras.

It is this model: models/props/cs_office/TV_plasma.mdl

I just made a couple modifications. Not to the model itself though!
