Postby staberas on Sat Apr 18, 2009 6:18 pm

Hello everyone , my name is Steve & would like you to show you my *unfinished* map
Which is called "THE DIG Remake", Yes its a small remake of the old adventure game of Lucas Art for you who dont know about the game go here& here,
Anyway here's a pic from the game so far

Image

the space shuttle is not mine, its made by "Cornflake" founded on a gmod site ..(yep i'm not a modeler just a mapper)
Anyway, i *fixed* gravity (now i float to the ceiling very..very slow ;p ). I'm currently trying to fix some "thrusters" so i can move up-down in the map and lastly the adventure-gameplay part .

Image

More screenshots & the map will be uploaded soon.Waiting for comments

Well it looks like a good start, albeit for the obviously squashed Earth.

heh, well there's not very much for us to comment on :)

But the idea sounds cool.

Help.. Hammer crashed while trying to build my thrusters :? .I created a trigger_push around my character & a point_clientcommand that executes these commands:
Code: Select all
 bind "X" "ent_fire <trigger_push name>"

The map doesn't compile & when i try to re-open it i get an error & it crash.

Do you know another way to bind the trigger push with an key ? Thanks in advance

Use a gameui entity and tie outputs to the thrusters, ie: PressedLeft ent_fire thrust3

doesn't work either , i tried "PressedAttack" -> "trigger_push" -> "enable"
(trigger_push is disable)

edit: the game_ui doesnt work with trigger_push for some reason anyway i'm fixing the cinematic game intro

For the thrusters, you're going to need to set up logic_compare entities to work in conjunction with the game_ui.
In the game UI:
Attackaxis > thruster logic > SetValueCompare

In the logic_compare:
OnGreatherThan > thruster > enable
OnLessTan > thruster >disable
OnEqualTo > thruster > disable

Are you actually planning to remake The Dig, or are you just making a map with the shuttle and the asteroid?

Today i compiled my first astronaut model founded in nasa webpage

Image

the model was original in 3ds. I manage to export it in smd using blender and with GUI StudioMDL 2.2 and a .qc
file i compiled the model successfully .... but model viewer gives me a "The model has no vertices." . Any idea?

qc file
Code: Select all
$modelname "astronaut\astronaut.mdl"
$cdmaterials "astronaut\"

$scale 1
$surfaceprop "plastic"

$sequence idle "astronaut.smd" fps 1

$collisionmodel "astronaut.smd" {
$mass 100.0
$inertia 1.00
$damping 0.00
$rotdamping 0.00
}

the studiomdl log
Code: Select all
writing V:\Programs\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\test_before_run\models/astronaut\astronaut.mdl:
bones          676 bytes (0)
animations     112 bytes (1 anims) (1 frames) [0:01]
sequences      216 bytes (1 seq)
ik/pose          0 bytes
textures       204 bytes
keyvalues        0 bytes
bone transforms        0 bytes
collision        0 bytes
total         1276

Completed "astronaut.qc"
