*UPDATE January 27 2011*

Sathor : simply to show that we are still alive I will show you some stuff I have been working on.

I have conquered the last hurdle of what I wanted to learn in terms of computer games modding, so I can do (at least simple) animations - evidence below!

*UPDATE April 25th 2010*

Generalvivi : Woot! looks like were back on the road again! For the last couple of months ive been trying to prioritize my projects and i've come to the conclusion that Chell's Legend will be my next project I finish. That doesn't mean that mirrors edge is out of the picture! In fact it's still quite in the picture! Thanks to sathor we have been keeping a steady pace at creating assets for the mod, by the time I finish Chell's Legend sathor will have made all the custom props we will ever need XD! ok! here is an update from sathor!

Sathor : A few months later, we still keep at it! And we want it to be epic, too.
Over the time, I have completed more skins and models. For this update, I will present you a few "99%" props - meaning they are 99% finished and won't undergo any major changes anymore.
They are ac units / water tanks for use on roof tops. All of them were included more or less like them in ME, they are more or less exact replicas - but still 100% own work, from models to skins.
Vivi and me are both quite busy in RL, but we still try to keep up a steady pace. It has been quite a long time now, but we plan more updates soon and a release sometime later this year (we hope).
But, enough talking!

*UPDATE September 22nd 2009*

Hey guys it's UPDATE TIME! We on the ME:S team have been working really hard these last few weeks to bring you guys an update! We took a small break for various reasons but things are back on track and better than ever! I'm currently working towards getting another playtest ... might happen in another 2 weeks or so. We have yet to show off more screens of Sathors map, which is looking very sweet, hopefully next update we can show off some screens of that :D! We also created a steam group so people can get updates on playtests and other media on steam :)! So join our steam group!

Info: So this is a medium size FY map that was set forth to give the player the feeling of being in / playing Mirrors edge. There will be rooftop combat / interior combat.

Checklist:

- Gameplay -

- Get first playtest and feedback on outdoor area.
- Finish outside rooftop gameplay
- Finish 1st pass inside gameplay
- Get feedback on inside.
- Finish interior brushwork
- Finish lower office gameplay

- Art -

- Create placeholder vista
- Model out a vista of the Mirrors Edge city
- Create textures / models for outside look
- Finish up textures / models for interior look
- Get a different name then "Fy_mirrors_edge"

Hopes:
- We hope to create a really awesome experience that people will enjoy playing over and over again.
- Have plenty of breakable models in the environment
- Possibly create another version for HL2 DeathMatch
- possibly go on to create other FY maps around mirrors edge environments




*UPDATE JUNE 22nd 2009*

Playtest was fun! The map is headed in the right direction for sure. Going to hopefully get another playtest next friday. I'll send out some more sign up stuff next monday so we can get the ball rolling again. Should be a blast!

Hope you liked the media update! Soon another playtest and then we start adding art! Can't wait! I'm just itching to start placing stuff everywhere and I know Sathor and PhilE are also :)

Some more updates! Trying to get the Mirrors Edge feeling down more. The real test comes when I duplicate the brushwork to the other side and start some testing and junk. I'm very excited to see how this plays. I wish css had a sprint key lol.

If you're trying to match the textures of Mirror's Edge then take it from someone who used the style in a 2D game for uni, use lots of white and stick to the one colour. I got a folder full of in-game references if it interests you although they're BMP so I'd have to convert them one by one, something I don't look forward to.

But it looks great so far mate. I've seen the models by Sathor so I have no doubt it'll look really nice to the eyes. Just be careful with the lighting.

I only ask that you change the name. I'm sure it'll turn out well, but I think a different name would suit it much better.

Oh, Habboi, isn't there a batch function in photoshop? Maybe it could be used to re-save file formats. If anyone knows how to do this, I would like to know.

Photoshop calls them actons, amirite?

You can always create a BAT file, or code a python app, or make a Gimp batch, and of course use PS.

Me and Sathor talked about changing the name to something else. Not sure what though! Also Habboi, Sathor has mirrors edge for pc and has taken a bunch of screenshots already :) and I've been just feeding off of what I've seen online.

I have posted but I haven't actually commented on the map.

Looks nice and promising. A shame I don't play CSS anymore.

What's up with the purple ambience? Or is it my screen again that's making it overly purple? Less red more blue!

Also vivi, you are a crazy ass fast level designer. D: I wish I was a fast mapper...

you should make a version of this map for hl2 deathmatch since that game is sorta like free running. plus the map is effing awesome!

I couldn't agree more, I love HL2DM for its free running ability. Sadly, most players don't care about freerunning or worse, they start complaining about bunnyhoppers.

Besides, the game is barely alive now, I doubt this map will appear on servers. But you never know.

Would be a shame if this stayed an orange map, correct me if I'm wrong but I have the impression you're quite handy with textures so get to work damn you! This has potential so be oh so rawesome.
I'm also liking that purple ambience, looks great.

I would still appreciate it being made into a hl2dm map because whenever i have a lan party at my house we play hl2dm and i would totally use it. i wouldnt mind it being dev textures, since its a remake of mirrors edge.

I'm just going by the process I would at work. I want to make sure the gameplay is fun and then once we have tested and tested we will go in and set dress and apply all the textures.

Obviously still working on it. I don't think I'll be done with the lighting until all the art gets in and I can officially go in and light stuff.

This is looking great already, if you guys need some textures or anything I'll be glad to at least try to help you guys out with that ;) And it wouldn't be a bad idea at all to make a hl2dm version of this map as soon as it's finished, it won't be a lot of extra work at all, just some weapon placement etc... And I disagree with the people that say that the game is dead and that this map won't be played, the game still has more players than everyone thinks! Anyways, good luck with this map, it'll turn out great :)
