Actually... I'll think about making such a model converter. When I wrote the previous post I thought that I need proper texturing tools in MB2 already in order to get that working... but I actually don't! :-D I think I could hack such a tool together, harnessing the brush face polygon corner calculation mechanism MB2 provides.

I'd be very interested if anyone had some documentation on the Half Life 2 MDL format, because I'd like to make a simple parser in order to get at the material data (Skin 1 = this texture) inside it.

OK girls, I have just taken a step in the right direction. Now, the conversion tools retain all texture alignment info, making the use of MB2 much more comfortable, as the alignments are no longer discarded. I could now theoretically base a hl2 model export on that stuff... :X

And just to keep you guys posted, I've decided not to go and use the previous indoor layout you had seen in previous screenshots. Instead I decided to go on some actual structural pillars and points that you can see here:

Image

This image is inside the building itself. After coming across some other references of the building (thanks Shrinker) I've found that I am not quite exactly accurate with the building. So although that's a downside I hope it doesn't effect the map in general =]

I've gone and started breaking some of the structural elements, so that everything doesn't quite look the same, and as its an abandoned building, I get more pleasure in ripping it apart =D

To sum it up, This is the last of my hammer work for a while, I'll be going back to MB2 to create some specific brushes and designs for this map. So, back to Microbrush! :D

Let me know what you think,
- Scott.

Reminds me of the big building in Stalker Clear Sky where you move through Limansk and have to fight your way through like 40-ish numbers of Monolith guys.

I have taken a look at some model data and figured that it would take more effort to manipulate it than I have time available for. Apparently, the only good path of action is to output a Studiomdl file and convert that. I can't look further into this now, as it is a "whole new world" with little relation to what I am already working on.

But as a side-effect, MB2 still retains all texture alignment now :)

And 28 remaining...
