My first actual map not counting that shitty map I made for Garry's Mod.

The map will end up being a blend of an old Quake IV map I was working on and one of my previous Map Battle entries. Kudos to whoever can guess which one will fit with the theme, although it's going to be heavily modified.

Very incomplete, buildings aren't connected, and the light is shit house, but I think it shows of the style I'm trying to achieve.

Any suggestions and criticisms are welcome.

Updates as of 16th September '09:

I've changed the light direction so everything is a little easier to see, raised some buildings up to add store fronts (even though I have no idea what they will look like), added the back of one building to close off the corner of the map, attached more details to the centre building (possibly a seedy strip joint), and textured the subway entrance. It was there before, but covered in Nodraw.

Hope you all like the new additions.

only in dev textures and it still looks awesome.
also that map gave ,e a load of inspiration for my future maps :D

for what game will this be? the brushwork is fantastic! I especially love the 4rth pic from the top. Really bad lighting but it could be really atmospheric with some good lighting

I haven't really thought about making it specifically for any game.

Great comments so far, and yes the lighting is really bad. It's also done some weird thing with the shadows in the second shot down, made the shadows really dark around the edges of the brushes, just like it did when I took screenshots of the pillar.

I've added some new images showing off the work that's been done. The Combine monitor is just a place holder for my own terminal. The shadows still suck, and JPEG blows, but if I save as PNG Photobucket will resize and compress anyway.

And the details are nowhere near finished. :-D

I'll have to work on closing off the edges next, so in the next update it shouldn't be floating in the sky.

Just a random thought. It's vaguely like Neotokyo, TimeSplitters 2. You won't find many good images on google though.

Though I assume you're not gunning for that cyberpunk style, more of your own branch.

Lots of brushes need to be redone because I've used several brushes on some things where one or two would do the job.

I really must get that game down and play it. Didn't realise it had a level like that. As for style, I'm going to try for a really dark and dirty theme and see how it works.
