The Adventurers Club is coming to GMod!! (gm_adventurers)



The once-cherished home of adventurers 'round the world has now been closed for a little over a year, thanks to Walt Disney World's decision to close ALL of Pleasure Island's night clubs in September 2008.

However, with my INSANE AMOUNT OF FREE TIME (and to brag, my modeling/mapping/texturing/awesomeness skills), this little-known venue of Walt Disney World will soon be open to ALL! Or at least, those who have a Source Engine PC game. Every model and texture is made by ME, BRERBEN, except for two chairs from HL2, a potted plant from Counter Strike Source, and palm trees from Pirates Vikings Knights 2. I have been working on this map EVERY DAY since MARCH of 2009.

A little history: the "Adventurers Club" was a night club located in the now-closed Pleasure Island district of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Its goal was to mimic an exclusive gentleman's (or "explorers") club, stuck in 1937. Think of "The Last Days of the Raj". Anyway, 3 different bars inside the club sold alcoholic beverages. One on the "Zebra Mezzanine", one in the main salon, and one in the Library. So in other words, you had to be an adult (or accompanied by one) to enter. The club is dotted with cast members dressed in 1930's explorers garb who go around cracking jokes at each other and guests to the likes of "how's that malaria coming?" Or for example, if a kid comes in wearing a cast on his arm, he would be greeted with "sorry about the Elephant mishap." 90% of the items collected in the club are "alive". They either look at you, move, or make noises; you just have to keep your eyes open.

I honestly think this is the greatest source map ever made. So much work was put in to it. The ship in the bottle was the best part in my opinion.

Haha, same here. That looks amazing! The ambient music really ties everything together nicely. Great job with the models too.

Awesome work. The only complaint I have so far is that it could be a tad brighter. I struggled to make out the details of all the cool things about the museum, and in your video you had to use your flashlight to show some things. Also, some of the textures you made from photographs look really bad. The elevator doors with reflections baked on and the plaque that's flashed out stood out especially. You'd be better off making them from scratch than taking them from a poor photograph.

This is fucking phenomenal. As stated before, this is quite possibly the coolest thing ever made in source.

Not only are the details all amazing, but the fact that you are making this map pretty much just for shits and giggles is so cool.

I do agree that you can turn up the lighting just a little bit so that we can really enjoy all your juicy textures and models.

This is cold awesome dude.
