Looks real good!

As to "making your maps playable and to scale and such" yeah..... it is certainly very important, but I've found when learning Hammer that any progress is good progress and starting the monumental task of creating a playable, well-lit, properly scaled map is very daunting. Learning how to use each tool properly is the most important IMO.
So I showed her. Gave it right to her like I owed her. That's when I turned from Shrek the Ogre into Master Yoda.

Thx for the nice responses :) I havent worked on this that much lately, It's shit that you can't have the episode 2 models in regular dm and I'm also having lightning problems (hdr) when I compile it for hl2dm.

Isn't it possible to just pack the models in with the .bsp file with bspzip? If so I would definitely do that. Also Hi. I like the lighting of the map, definitely compliments the architecture very nicely.

This looks very nice and from the screenies i've seen the lighting isn't quite as bad as you could probably think. I'm not sure legally if you could do that, since wouldn't you be taking pieces of a retail product and givig them to players that might not have the game? (I.e. stealing bits of ep2 for them) I might be over complicating it though.

I'd like to see this when it reaches it's final product :D Whats the name of the sky box you used, if you don't mind? Can't seem to find it and it fits perfectly with something I'm working on too.

I would like some help getting this to work in hl2dm, using pakrat to put the new models in the bsp didn't work just gets an error message. And compiling the map in hl2dm mode messes up the lightning (and some textures and models don't show up), ideas?

Why wont hdr work i hl2 deathmatch ? help?
Also I couldn't get the pine models to work in hl2 dm but the hedge models worked for some reason.

Tjhat looks more like you need to build cubemaps in both HDR and LDR. But that blacked out area almost looks like you are using a model texture on brushwork... Thats jsut what I get from looking at the last pick...

That's not a model texture i'm pretty sure.. I forgot about the buildingcube maps hdr ldr thingy, that's probably why it looks that way.. I'm finished with it soon though, just got to fine tune it for hdr which is a tedious task if you ask me, you change something and then you have to wait 20 min before you can see it, the lightning preview doesn't work maybe it's because I have a ATI card. ¬_¬

hdr works in hl2dm when you first turn cheats on (sv_cheats 1) before building cubemaps (buildcubemaps).

and check if the materials for the trees are in the right folder ect.

Well, it isn't black like on that pic anymore, but the weapon is still white and some of the props..

Have I forgot something here in the tonemap controller?

I think it looks pretty decent without hdr, so if I cant get it to work i'm not gonna bother it's just a waste of time..
+ the sky doesn't fit with hdr, atleast that's not what i think.
And about those pines, well I tried putting every model and material in ep2 in the hl2dm folder, and it still doesn't work.
I don't know exactly what kind of materials and models those have ...

hm, when you did "buildcubemaps", have you reload another map to empty the cache and then started the map again to reload the new cubemaps?

pines: maybe source hadnt load it all into the ep1-engine. you may try to refresh your sdk content. otherwise you should check if the paths in the vmts are set correctly(well, when you know the name of the material).

Yes. HDR works now, atleast it did on another computer.. I'm also using the valve batch compiler, which works better..
There's just one part of the map which is very barren, i must think of something..
