what the hell? too boxy, too dark, too bright, the pop machine looks stupid.

There's probably not a huge amount of good in posting such early shots of your level, what I'm seeing there doesn't really show too much. One comment I would make, though, is that right now, the map simply doesn't look like anything. It has that appearance of being a whole bunch of rectangular boxes stuck together in Hammer, as opposed to looking like, say, a house, or a factory or whatever.

This map looks terrible. Your gonna have to really work on it to make it good.

Well, I don't want to add to the dog pile, but... yeah the vending machine for one. Nothing looks right, ceilings and doors are too high, texturing does not look good, props don't look like they fit. I hate to say it and don't want to discourage you, but I would trash that and start over. Maybe start with the dev textures, so you get a better feel for the heights and sizes.

Another thing, don't use any props till you done with the map. Don't depend on them to add atomsphere map, that comes from good brush work. I would like to see you go though the wips on the forum and see why others got good or bad feedback, so you don' t make the same mistakes, and learn what makes a good map.

Good luck and keep trying, you have the heart but need the art and that will come with pratice. (yea, I can rap!!!!)

Because i only know how to do brush work with the block tool, i need people to post any tutorials that would be good for me at this stage,

stairs,ramps,windows,pipes,terrain, and whatever the other thing i can make rooms with, if you all say its to boxy, even though i didnt hollow out any rooms, then tutorials on how to make rooms a different way, and anyother tutorials that you think will help me, thanks, grim.
