Hello everyone I'm a new member here and I would like to show off some of my latest work, I have about a year of experience with hammer, but I'm a quick learner and I tend to be a turtle with work, I can just go back and forth to tweak even the smallest things, it's something enjoyable for me to see every, even the smallest detail :)

I've got some experience behind my back and I'm pretty much self taught, but tend to be lazy very often :/

Originally I wanted to start a space map for L4D campaign something like an abandoned space ship filled with zombies after the virus spread over, things that were supposed to come: lots of ambushes, choke points, limited visibility of light and some shadow play, but eventually it evolved into something different, and all different things came to my head after I made my first custom texture and watched 'Blade Runner Final Cut' - I'm not gonna say how many times I've seen this film :D , this project may evolve into something bigger like mod. Currently I'm writing a script, a story, something that will hold this project on a backbone, you may see it's pretty much stylized but still simple, not much expensive brush work, and pictures below are just showing some warehouse corridors, player will probably start at the beginning of the mod in this magazine. I'll see how script will go.

Whole warehouse is custom, with textures made from a scratch and models, the vignette in the corners was made for env_screenoverlay and is actual in-game.

- Advice, tips, criticism is really nice to see, also I'll take next steps to add some more models, more variations of textures and overlays, probably particle effects.
- I want the lights to play a big role in this, it's gonna be very important to keep everything in a certain mood.

Some screens from other projects, never got finished though.

Originally supposed to be a HL2DM map, never finished.

Other project, I wanted to create a forest and probably some underground labs etc.

Sewers beneath the forest. Sewers were supposed to be a labyrinth of corridors filled with water and vents in which you would be able to sneak into the laboratory.

I'm in love with the lighting in the first and third series of pictures. The custom textures also really help hide the fact that the geometry is somewhat simple - it still looks really nice. Only thing I'd like to see is some sources for those lights.

I agree with Ackart on this, you've done a very good job with the lighting, it creates an awesome mood, paired with the sweet textures, you can afford to sticking to the simplistic geometry!
...you honestly dont really notice it...meaning you could probably get away with some big ass environments (maybe only indoor ones but hey.) keep up the goods! :D

EDIT: also noticed with that texture, you could merely rotate it using the 90 degree angles so it looks more varied and saves creating extra textures of a similar design!

(After few days of break... I haven't got much time lately so just simple stuff.)

A small touch up update on textures, tweaking them, they look more gritty right now.
I will darken up the blue lights next time.
Also I have compressed all textures on models and normal materials.

That warehouse is incredibly foreboding. But I feel the rooms need a bit more 'serviceability' to them - extra rooms latched on and more doors about would make them considerably more interesting. Also, while the detail is poor to begin with the deeper recesses are extremely rich in colour and objects - more of the same, please!

I think I might start to look for a concept artist, to help me pull more ideas, I can do models easily, textures and so on.
My mind just got pretty much dim, currently I will write a script and scenario, when it's finished I will post it here.

Yes it was colour corrected, but just a little, used curves. :)
