ok, I see, I will put up the bsp and vmf download, and scrap this map, just another for the bin I guess, but a few things, this map is suppost to be set in an apartment building from hell, the npc was suppost to be the players dead wife, and based off FEAR...I mean REALLY based off fear, but which I mean having several direct referances to fear games. and do you know a good site for me to upload?

Basically, what srred said. Having things randomly dissappear isn't scary, it's just strange. Chunks of wall just vanishing? Sorry, but that doesn't make me unsettled. You need, as stab said, mindfuckery. Watch some Alfred Hitchcock movies if you don't know what I mean (they're psychological horror, not just LOLGOREGOREGORE)

I was going for strange, FEAR isn't a scary game...

I never mentioned FEAR :/ And if you were going for strange then you certainly met your goal, but I wouldn't say that the level's unsettling/scary.

just in the post above you, and I really never enjoyed flat out horror. which is why I would have had combat against the combine in the later areas.

Okay the only thing I found mildly interesting was on the second video from :52 on, but alas it was not scary and poorly done. No offense but I agree with srredfire, the quality of your maps are below average and are lacking basic essentials.
You should try skill building exercises, such as making a simple development map with well done lighting. Or a map focusing on complex entity setup. Or simply a map devoted to clean and well textured brush work. It took me around 6-8 months to start getting nice quality work. But that also depends on how hard you try.

That's great advice right there. I've noticed a huge improvement in my mapping just by taking the time to use dev textures correctly and being really anal about their alignment. If your dev textures looks good, then you can be sure that it'll look even better with the right textures, because everything is already aligned as it should be. Plus, dev textures are a great guide for custom textures in the future.

jgood i would like to suggest you a game, Penumbra series specially the first one. Near the end of the game it became scary not only by its ugly textures and its EXCELLENT voice acting but also by the stuff actually someone wants you to do.... and its unexpected end .

I thought the chair disappearing was scary as hell.

but its hard to be scared in a environment like that, you need to spend more time on stuff before you show it off.
