This looks amazing, Yokai. Great use of the TF2 style for the visuals. I can't wait for a playable version.

Help section stuff- random half-baked ideas from me, hope they help!

for the first pic, you know those encased power cords they have in schools/offices? Not sure what to call them. I attached a painting of it. I hope it's clear. If you want a more cartoony look, I'm thinking those ribbed things on top of transformers... google "transformer power" if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Second pic: the only thing that comes to mind for those blue squares is the openings of heat vents with fans or something inside. It's in a volcano so it would make sense if they periodically blasted out heat/embers or something.

Third pic: concrete bags seem like a fine idea. Scaffolding is possible too but it might be too much in the way.

Dude, the chains in the middle are awesome. The map has a very UT/WoW feel to it. It reminds me of..... Ragnarok(?) in WoW. Haven't played in ages..... anyway.....

Some kinda model to attach all the screen wires too..... you can just put more screens on top (but that would be too easy). I think all the wires meeting at one point looks fine. You can just maybe run 1 or 2 wires from that point to another spot in the room. Like.... if they run across the ceiling, down the wall, to a little server model in the corner. Maybe have some spots spark a bit and make the whole thing look a little beat up (make it sloppy) and it might look alright. Or.... since your screens will stay black/not working (I assume) all the wires can meet where they do now, converge into 1 wire, and have it disconnected and dangling with some sparks. Now it looks like the system SHOULD be working, but the screens are black and the connecting wires are broken and sparking.

If you don't like any of those options (or any others), I think the screen system would look just fine without any wires at all. However..... it would be AWESOME if the screens displayed different areas in the map. Even if all the screens showed 1 camera angle (the center of the map) that would be awesome.

The lava texture looks awesome. I can't wait to see the volcano erruption in full effect. I know there is a 'loper that is SICK at particle effects but I can't recall who. He did a really awesome explosion for another TF2 map. I think that erruption can make your map (if ya do it right) :D I wish If I knew how to use the particle editor at all I'd lend a hand, but that shit is confusing as fuck to me. I wish ya luck! Post more screens when you update!!!!!

Thanks supervillain, I'm hoping the same for the particle effect as well. Unfortunately, there's a really steep learning curve with this tool so... :lol:

The screens are going to have textures assigned with computer-ish looking text, but it will also be a way of informing players where everything is. For example, above the capture point it will say "Blu" on the left screen and "intel" on the right. When the flag is captured, I plan to make it so that they change textures as the person carrying the flag passes by them.

I've been able to get away with a lot of stuff without modeling, and things are already looking better. I've still got a few models I'm working on, but they're going to be for a mod I am planning to do after this. I find it REALLY hard to model in TF2's style.

I'll probably update this in a day or two with the results to those issues, because I rather like the way they look now. :smt023

I think it looks awesome, I really don't have any criticism other than that I think the lava texture looks weird.

It actually looks like an extremely solid map, I'd like to test it out full with people.

Update, got the particle effect to work, got some time to finalize the layout and the game modes.

Just need to do 3 full compiles and the map should be done. Any comments on that particle effect though? (If a better video is needed, I can provide. For some reason, youtube degraded it quite a bit in terms of quality. Also, pay no attention to the fps in those videos, Fraps limits it off at 60 fps. ): I get 130 - 200 fps in my map and spent my time optimizing it.)

Looks great. kind of creepy actually looking at the lava design, but overall, great.:)

Those mine cart tracks need some support under them. Also the roll up doors need better framing and the map needs more detail overall. In my opinion the interior lighting should be brighter too.
