Is this possible in hammer?

So what do you guys think, even better has someone tried? Or would you have to involve coding?

ALso how about zero gravity, I know about trigger_gravity but I cant seem to achieve "real" xero gravity, as in floating around

In terms of "real" zero-gravity where you could float around changing directions, and walking on walls and ceilings, it is NOT possible in hammer (though I'm sure possible with some coding). The trigger_gravity works the same as the sv_gravity command, in that it will change how fast or slow you fall strait down. Changing it to 0 will mean you keep going up as you jump, but once you hit a roof you'll be unable to do anything.

One thing you could try is to use a custom water setup (without all the shaders that make it look like youre underwater). This would likely mess with the sound, since it would sound like being underwater, but its worth a try I guess.

In this scene from dead space I doubt the designers used a variable like sv_gravity. The player still is able to walk upright because of his equipment (from the game point of view), but mostly because the game is set up a specific way.

Now I am simply guessing on this, but I would assume they used some coding in the engine or something to allow the player to jump from spot to spot, and then turn that spot into a walkable floor area.

As for 'real' zero gravity, the closest thing to this would be probably 'sv_gravity 0'. The only problem here, is that if you get up in the air with this setting, you will NOT be able to control your heading.

I think, perhaps the question should be expanded to 'Can This Be Done Through the Source Engine?'

Make gun shots change your direction? Shoot in one direction, fly off in the opposite. Though this would require coding.

And if you wanted it like Dead space, jumping off walls and such, you would have to modify the mechanics of the player(so he wouldn't always stay upright) and make him clip his legs to any surface. So it might also require animations if you want it to look nice.

Hammer is a level editor. You are asking about the capabilities of the game that you map for, migedith got that right.

I am pretty sure it IS possible in the source engine, but not without your own mod codebase.
