Crimson Dead- L4D2 Coop Campaign- Dylan Holcomb

If the title got you interested, you're a cheesey novel writer, if it was the L4D2 Coop Campaign that did it, you're a zombie shooter fan, if you got excited that my name is in the threads title than you should probably get off the computer, mom.

Anyways, right now I'm working on a custom campaign for L4D2. Yipee! I've been playing it by ear so far and I'm fairly confident that aside from some polish here or there I'm pretty much done with the first map. Now I decided to make a thread rather quickly tonight at 4:40 AM, so I grabbed some quick and dirty screenshots.

Go, play, enjoy. Your feedback is my nutrient paste I soak myself in, then let dry while basking in the sun. God it's so late.

looks pretty cool dylan, I think I'll download it later and play it with a buddy :)
a few things I can tell you right now tho
like this picture, you should do something about the lighting , like lowering them so they will not create that bright spot at the ceiling.
and maybe a dumb thing to say but I think that the S.O.S. decal shouldn't be placed on the floor, only on roof tops.
I've seen it before in other maps and to me it didn't make no sense to me.. I don't know if other people feel the same way tho.
your color correction looks pretty although it reminds me of the 'special infected cc' a bit

when is the next map comming?

Tbh, I don't like it very much, the brown cc is too close to infected vision imo and yellow is a warm color which is associated with safety. I would limit yourself to the colder colors to portray a feeling of cold/lonelyness (blue and greys)
Then you can use the orange -ish lights to draw the players attention to certain places (players automaticly move toward light). There was this one area where you are in some sort of square near a market. I kept cirling around trying to find the way, not noticing the manhole. If you cover up the hole with that plate and have blue outline on it => so players know they can open it, they 'll have less trouble finding the exit.
Overall I would like to see more height variation in the building because everything seemed to be at the same height.
Or atleast use chimneys, antenna's and satellite dishes to break up the horizon.
+ no tier 2 weapons on the first map, never do that.

@ Source maps. thanks mang, I'll go through the map and fix those lights.

@Marnamai... Hmm, I love my CC but you're right about it. Darn, sometimes you gotta get rid of your favorite thing for the sake of good atmosphere. I'll take out the tier 2 weapons, remove the SOS, and add some chimneys, and antennas.

Also last night while getting those quick and dirty screenshots I realized there were no lights in the skybox, this is because one version was crashing every time I loaded so I had to continue of an old version.

Both of you, thanks for the feedback so much, I have no idea when the second map is coming, but I'll make sure to notify you guys when it does. Thanks again.

EDIT:

Noone has mentioned the commander :(

Don't have every light turned on! Lights should really mostly be used to guide the player to where to go next, not to light the entire map.

Good point... fixing that now

Here's a screen of a little progress, haven't made a new color correction yet.

I'm having a little trouble right now, the fog in my skybox does fine for my 3d brush buildings, but doesn't work on my 2d card skyline. Any ideas?

Update: Taken out the 3d skybox for now, until I can get everything figured out...

Been messing with color correction, and if you know me, you know I'm a huge fan of the Matrix type blue color palette. (think blue, not green, like the cover Image)

So I've made 2 different versions, one lighter, one heavier. I prefer the heavier, but I want to get others feedback before deciding on which one.

Light

Also, since the campaign is now blue, and not red, I need a new campaign title.

the heavy blue looks like the pre-spawn infected view :S

I prefer the light blue. The heavier looks unrealistic to me

Any color correction is "unrealistic". It's just to give it more atmosphere. I do agree that the light blue is better though. The heavier one would only work if it were a snowy environment and even then it'd be stretching it a bit.
