This here is a trainstation which connect's this map cell with the rest :v: The train is controllable and some gameplay is going to revolve around combat on a moving train.

And here's a screenshot of the entire map.

I don't know if the source 2007 kit supports this, in fact I'm fairly sure it doesn't, but try $seamless_scale on the textures you use for the displacements so they blend nicer. If it works you might as well try ss bumping them so they light correctly.

$seemless_scale is in 2007 but you can't put bumpmaps or normal maps on textures with $seemless_scale if I remember correctly.

The distant mountain range on the horizon is a nice touch. Or is it more than that, is it FORESHADOWING?

Though that pile of trash looks kinda funny at the moment.

Wow, one rarely sees such an open area in any regular FPS environment. That is a rather good job, and it must have been a lot of fun to run around while developing it! I bet you've inspected parts of your map from a high point a lot, through a scope :P

With an environment at such a great scale, it even makes sense to introduce some sorts of functional transportation, like a cart on rails or something like that :D

I think this area has sufficient cover now

The cliffs look far too smooth and repetitive I'd say.

bits of that map remind me of an old park I used to work at...

but I think your ground does need more cover, mainly dead plants and rocks... I would also like to see some kind of ditch path (there is a name for it...but I can't remember...)

EDIT: ok I remember, I am thinking of a wash, which occurs after heavy rains over a long period of time. so they are natural ditches and paths surrounded by rocks, plants, and steep hills.

EDIT: the above would be fairly location specific (areas with hard storms followed by droughts) so...
where is this map taking place?

EDIT...again: It would be like this, but the walls would be shorter, and covered in plantlife, this pic is more of a wash found in the american southwest...It was harder then expected to find a good pic

ANOTHER EDIT: found a better pic

Thanks for the tips, this is actually set in Central Asia (Aral Sea) so it's a fairly flat area. I agree with the repetative cliffs though, Red Dead Redemption has given me some good ideas on how to make deserts :-D
