starting on an industrial/mining themed level for NS2, doubt I will finish, just going for environment building practice (composition, lighting etc) :) heres what I have so far:

I'm planning to get some cables hanging from the covered area in the ceiling, I'm pretty happy with this area so far though, entrance to the corridor on the right needs work though I guess :( all crit is welcome

Just two things that I see, the texture on the wall in the top right corner of that picture seems stretched (the concrete).

The main floor tile you're using is way to obvious in its tiling, if possible edit the texture so that it isn't as repetitive.

Is it even possible to do a non-industrial themed NS2 level? Looks great so far though, it's nice to see others using Spark (and supporting Unknown Worlds' first real commercial game), my only suggestion is some more colorful lighting.

The only art assets they've released for use in the editor are from the industrial/refinery themed set, lol.

mini update, pretty much finished with this room now. Not a bad result I guess, seeing how little level design I've done.

Is that spark?

I would make my own tile textue - all you need is google, and photoshop - takes about 5 mins.

I have 2 days MAX to make this look amazing. I need to rework the stairs part so that the pipes run underneath and over the cavern into the rocks on the other side, with some bling detail work there. Otherwise, I really need some tips on how to improve the right side of the main room, and general ideas for the area with the stairs (intended to be an impromptu worker 'chill' area, hence the benches and vending machines).

How hard is this tool and is it worth pre-ordering the game to get my hands on it?

I hate level editors with a passion because of their complexity. I can happily work in Spark. It's practically childs play. Buy it.

Haha, that got me convinced, it's a good thing the game doesn't cost as much as MW2, because that price is insane.
