It's hard to say, I've used Hammer for many years so I'm quite used to the layout and such.

But... If I could learn how to make a pretty good looking room without looking at any tutorials what so ever I think it's safe to say that the Spark editor is really frigging easy to learn.

To base a bit of my own experience on it, I feel that if you can't quite get the hang of UDK but enjoy using the source engine, the Spark Engine provides a nice middle ground for those looking to transition to something a little more modern but still gives you a rather nice amount of environment / geometry control that isn't as tedious as say something like UDK.

I would recommend pre-ordering the game just to test out the tools alone, as a mapper that is. Also the lua base coding structure may be very promising to modders who want to make their own FPS style (or possibly even RTS) game using this engine.

Having said that, the alpha comes out on the 26th, and pre-ordering gets you into that deal... sooo...

Good point YokaI, I agree, it's like something in the middle.

You might need to calibrate your monitor then, the screens look fine to me brightness-wise.
