Didn't I see a post with a guy complaining we were catering to noobs too much......

The fact is the opening of this thread was poor, and as such made a bad impression.
But I think we can all agree that this is a little more unique.

I actually think limitation is good for creativity. If we had an engine that could do everything, we would be in trouble. It gives us focus. ~~ Randy Lundeen

Two points.

And i little advice for the troll's out there stop posting if you can only express your self thru staining this topic in a bad manner or comment and start encouraging people so they could actually fell good off participating in developing not just in a mod but in the good feeling of just creating stuff, because like meny othere's like me, you get a good fealing when i see good comment or a good criticism about my work and it only stimulates me to make more and better.

If you're going to type like a twelve-year old, that's how I'm going to treat you.

I am not going to critique or support a few model meshes and a tiny amount of level work.

I am going to support, help and above all encourage people who put themselves out with exceptional levels of effort or have significant content.

Is this elitist?

No. It's realist.

Having poured hour after hour after hour into my own work, it severely pisses me off to see people getting uppity on either side of the "good idea/shit work" fence. This is neither an attack nor a supportative statement. It's bona fide fact with my bias.

This. Is. Not. Content. This is a stolen review, a few cheapish models and ONE piece of level design work. There is near-zero evidence of heavy duty commitment.

I am impressed with your tenacity and such, but it seems a blunt-headed bulldog approach chucking out some WIP stuff and expecting people to go out of thier way to be impressed.

I predicted correctly. Blood and tears are beginning to fall.

This thread is all just one big mess. Not only did you open it with nothing more than a title and a thumbnail (I can't decide if that was laziness or artistic pretension), you then spouted a whole load of copy-pasta text and some concept art that does not belong to you (this is not a problem in itself, it's just that you should always state who's it is and where it's from). Your examples of modelling and mapping are both competent, but they just don't seem to match up to your concept, nor is there anywhere near enough of it to start proclaiming that you have a WIP mod.

You aren't asking for help and you aren't providing us with a clear image of your intentions, so there is precious little we can do but stand there and scratch our heads. We don't know what you are actually trying to accomplish with this thread and so we are trying to express this confusion in a myriad of ways. Some of us resort to amusing jibes and insults; this is pretty normal human behaviour when someone bursts onto the stage with very little understanding of their audience. To those complaining that this thread is an example of how Interlopers 'hates newcomers': at no point did I see someone being harsh about his work. This is an example of how 'lopers don't tolerate fools.

In a recent post you asked us to give constructive criticism and this I will gladly do so. Your mapping seems fine, but there is little I can say for it since you've only provided two screens. But what I can say is that neither image gives me any sense of the grand, intimidating scale that the subject material evokes for me. Your modelling is, again, absolutely fine but the model itself just doesn't fit with this theme at all. It's a solar panel and that's it. It doesn't look like the product of 21 millennia of human development in the fields of material science and aesthetics. The same applies for the wind turbine. I can drive 20 miles and find one just like that in nice, plain old Devonshire.

Your work so far shows no appreciation for the source material at all. Even your idea of reclaiming dead foes' water for health is massively half-arsed. If you had read the damned book or even (shock- bloody-horror) googled the topic, you'd have found that the process of reclaiming water requires a large device and is done in the Sietch, not in the field. Sure, you could shoe-horn in something if you wanted, but only if you respected the rest of the lore, which you haven't done too well so far.

Remember I said earlier that I was initially excited about working on this? This is why I am not interested in joining: you don't know what you are doing.

That's the advice i'm looking for "constructive" but I am unable to see in the far future , despite that i will try to mod it in some way to make it appeal more fictional.

Even your idea of reclaiming dead foes' water for health is massively half-arsed.
im not talking about extracting his water i was talking about the mini pod reserve of water "who goes in the desert whit out water" and it a game in should not be 100% real and to the book.

and I’m mapping just for the enjoyment of it , it’s a passion a hobby whatever you want to name it and I’m asking for some advice now and then because I don’t know how everything works or why should I stress out myself on finding a solution when I have the beautiful community of Interlopers at my side for help when I have a question or two.

Represent, Yo.

Well, I'm of Dorset/Hampshire stock, with a fair dose of Cornish (inb4 webbed feet joke). So I guess that would make me so. :D

Regardless of what's been going on in this thread, I like your work (visually). You've got some talent going on there. I wish you the best.

Your map work is superb. How long have you been mapping?

Also, have you thought of joining an established mod? (If you haven't already?)

yeah you learn much quicker if you work with other folks on a mod
even if the mod fails, it was worth it

Hi, after much controversy on my decision to immortalize the Dune story into my MOD I got some negative feedback, after serious consideration I have chosen to rename the MOD to "FRACTAL" and to not stain the prestige of Frank Herbert books the game will be based on a different plot but you will also find little hints and similarities to Dune.
To make this official here is a Wallpaper for the new name . enjoy

Yeah that wallpaper was ridiculously good, and your work is good, but the new stuff seems a little off...
