Hello everyone !
I'm currently working on a multiplayer map for the hl2 mod demons vs humans

The setting is an old mill and some fantasy forest scenery.
I tell you straight forward that the map has to be so dark, because demons are only visible through the shadow they cast from a flashlight.
The only thoughts i made up about gameplay, were that i wanted to create a few rather large areas with mostly more than one height-level so that the demons are able to flee and do suprise attacks from above. Another thing i integrated into the layout is that all of those areas are quickly accessible through the cave crossing in the middle so that the human team doesn't have to walk for hours to catch up with the demons.

The ground looks good, although maybe it should be a little bumpier once it rises up to form hills/walls. The map might benefit a lot from the blend textures having more depth to them.

The large loose rocks look too sharp and simplistic, maybe that's partly because of the way the light is hitting them. Without having seen how the map will look with a flashlight on, I'd have to think that whatever is going to get hit with that harsh firelight needs to be done very well.

The small stone walls/arches look good as far as I can tell, but the deep bumpmapping makes them really stand out from their surroundings (a little bit too much IMO).

The mill structure looks a bit odd to me. The ends of beams poking out everywhere looks excessive (too long and maybe too many places as well). The brushwork of the stone itself there is simplistic; it seems like it could use some edging or a ledge to break it up vertically. It is weird the way the walls change angle but remains a smooth unbroken surface.

You don't give much of a look of the red brick building, but to my eye the brick texture and the wood that's all over the outer walls don't go together.

It's been a while, but here i've got a little update for you..
Suprise ! It's not dvh_mill but a new map i'm working on for the same Mod and its called dvh_dome.
It's a simple TDM map that is set in an underground dome system, ugly spiders included. The layout contains 3 big domes that connect in one spot with 2 levels and a few tunnels connecting the domes on the sides.
The update for dvh_mill will come pretty soon, but i'm still working on little fixes and details right now.
Please tell me what you think about my new map, and what i could do better, in terms of looks or gameplay.

And here's the promised update on dvh_mill with a new game mode :
On this map The Humans have to defend villagers , that hide in the two buildings, while the Demons have to sneak in somehow and take the villagers into the forest to harvest their souls.
So I've concentrated on improving Gameplay(which now takes place almost eclusively in the mill area)
, by adding more pathways to the mill area and to the buildings themself.
I've also given my best to make it look more detailed, while keeping performance issues in mind that occur on large open maps. I think it looks much better now, though maybe there's too much "disco lightning" on the screenshots but it actually looks pretty sweet ingame.
Constructiv criticism is higly aprreciated :)
