HL2EP2 SixFifteen (Under construction)

KTHXHAI. I've been a reader of these forums for a while now so I think it's time to show what I've created/learned so far. :) I'm not really sure what I want to do with this map yet... And I also want to keep some of my ideas secret so that I don't spoil the experience (IF I ever release the map).

Image
A short intro script. (logic_auto, logic_relay, env_fade, game_text, point_viewcontrol, etc.)
It's a fully working clock btw, until you break it that is.

Image
A combine kicks the door in and chases you. (scripted_sequence, etc.)

Image
Some sort of cashiers office? (With a working vending machine ofc, lol)

Image
I just call this room "the room with the stairs".

Image
A different view (from an earlier build).

Well... Post your feedback and ideas or something. :smt045

I think you could use more variation in your rooms, Try adding more textures and using decals.
Geometry could use some improving, particularly in the room with stairs.

Some minor stuff which might just be unfinished work,

Disembodied light in 3rd picture.
Do the stairs first steps raise above the floor in the fourth pic?
graffiti seems a little out of place, and maybe more railings in the fourth pic.

Besides those nitpicks It looks good so far!
(Just a suggestion, when you make more progress the map pimpage thread might be more suitable for the odd picture here and there.)
Contact. The EU welcomes the pain free. That's emotional impact.
I actually think limitation is good for creativity. If we had an engine that could do everything, we would be in trouble. It gives us focus. ~~ Randy Lundeen

Yes. Use the stairs prefab to get a better idea of how to proportion them, there are also a few stair-specific textures in the texture browser.

Yup. Decals. Got it. I have to learn that dirty walls look better than clean ones...

The room with the stairs was the first room I created. I'm going to improve it later. :) Right now I just wanna keep the tempo up so I don't get stuck with tiny details (I tend to do that a lot and then lose interest).

The "disembodied light" actually has a model. It's just too bright to see it until the HDR adjusts. I might make it a bit darker though...

I'm impressed that you saw the 1 unit difference on the stairs. :smt023 I'm going to fix that.

About railings... Is it a big no-no to do this with blocks or should I use the models?

Yeah, I know about the stair prefab and textures. I wanted really steep stairs though. :|
