[L4D] No Precinct

Hey guys, So I'm creating a 4 map campaign for left 4 dead. Which is pretty mature at this point and playable for the first 2 maps. (Although I have the 3rd map also complete but have not included it in the release yet). I've been working on the campaign since like April, but in that time I have learned ALOT about hammer editor. I think about in what was it.. Near the end of July I took all my work and trashed it. Yep I took months of work and threw it away to start over again. Because simple the maps I had were amateur , they looked good but no more then polished turds so I had to start over again.

Check out the campaign here

I created 3 professional quality maps since in the past 3 months since. I think it takes about 30 days for me now to create a decent map, while before when I first started learning hammer editor I was spending like 3 months on 1 map. lol :smt044 . Although I'm getting more proficient and faster. I hope I can get to the point where I churn out a quality map in half that time. This is probably how Valve somehow churned out 25 maps for left 4 dead 2 in only a year with a 30 person team.It can be done if you really good with the level editor.

Also I made website for the campaign,
http://www.noprecinct.com
The fact I have a domain you can be sure this a serious project.

Also if any bugs are encountered take a screenshot if possible and let me know. Looking forward to comments.

It's normal to take a month for map creation in Hammer. Most people I've spoken to are much the same.

The screenshots there do look rather good! It's impressive to think you've only been using Hammer for a short time.

Thanks ^^, When I am interesting in something I tend to devote a lot of time to learning about it.
So 30 days is normal for a map? I'm trying to aim for 20 days. I think the problem though that wastes alot of time, is waiting for the compiler and testing lights etc.. Such a waste of productivity. :o

Yes I use it alot. But I need to playtest my maps alot to make sure their immersive, fun and checking for bugs. That can take 10 - 15 minutes for a full map with HDR.

Not only that but also check for bad vertex lighting and use info_lighting on some models and compile again usually with cordons for interiors. That take usually 1- 3 minutes
Production time wasters in source ->
compiling
Testing lights

Judging by the screens: looks awesome. Anyway, rotate some of those cars a bit since they're too perfectly aligned in my opinion.
