Pueblo: A small project for Counter-Strike Source

Postby Kanine01 on Wed May 11, 2011 1:50 am

Over the past few days, I've been working on a small hostage rescue map for Counter-Strike Source.

I've made some more progress adding an interior along with things like lights, windows, etc.

The interior is still under detailed at the moment, so It's not worth looking at.

Does it seem more aesthetically pleasing than the last version?

I've kept working and I've changed a few things, rounded stair wall-things (as of Anthracite's request.)

Oh man, building small portions of a map focused around one center of detail? I feel just like Oskutin!

I've added a 3d Skybox which is still very WIP. I was trying to use those rocks as placeholders for mesas. I'm not sure exactly if I want this building to be a home, restaurant, or something else.

Make a custom blend texture that blends the tiles from inferno with your sand :)

I've been studying for finals alot lately so I haven't really been able to map. I've gotten a bit done on Pueblo but not much.

You will probably want to add something on the roof for players to seek cover behind - as well as disruptive elements around the structure. I'm not much of a CS player, but right now it seems walking onto the structure is suicide (which is a shame, IMO).

very nice start! reminds me of the lars homestead from Star Wars!

The only visual distraction i can notice is the beveling on top of the walls looks strange to me(can you use smoothing groups maybe to make it "softer"?

hah good to see someone else tackling this design ethic. When I released dm_pueblo it turned out there was a fair chunk of feedback that led me to believe this style of architecture is not well known out there. Anyway for giigles if you want here's that map: http://www.snarkpit.net/index.php?s=maps&map=3216

Turned out it missed the mark for the fickleness of the competetive scene, but the variety of sizes/shapes available should lend itself to CSS I would imagine. GLHF
