Jordash's Uni Project

Postby Jordash on Wed Oct 19, 2011 1:16 pm

I'm looking for some crits on a project I'm working on for university this semester. My coordinator is a bit behind the times (doesn't really use computers very well) and isn't providing very good criticisms or any constructive advice on the presentation side of things, so it would be good to get the point of view from people who are more familiar with this sort of work.

The project is a museum on the site of an older half built museum near Pasargadae in Iran. I've tried to maintain the existing structure as much as possible and connect the building visually to the village, which can be seen across the road.

The video shows the building from the outside and a walkthrough of the exhibition area. I have just over 2 weeks to make a video showcasing the entire building.

Since it is still a work in progress I still have to do a few things:
- Add more scenes to the video, edit it correctly
- Add details in all areas
- Texture some spaces
- Artificial lighting and lighting props
- Cafe area and shop are not done at all (end of walkthrough video)
- Add some order to the community space
- Add signage
- Add bus stop
- Organise the exhibit spaces (rough placements for now)

but any suggestions on how I tackle these issues would be welcome to!

First thing that caught my eye: remove the screen hopping. Doesn't really fit a camera 'fly' through.

Hmm, yeah, maybe I should setup a viewcontrol/train system to fly through, it would make it easier to change part of the map and not have to rerecord everything all the time.

Very well put together. Aside from doing a wonderful job on the overall structure, you handled the lighting very well too. Lighting with HDR came around nicely. Gives me a thing or two, to press for in my own work.

Well put together indeed.

Not bad at all, pretty simplistic, crisp design. The lighting was ok, though I did like how it leaked inside the building through small windows. The lightmaps could have been a tad bit lower in some areas to improve shadows and whatnot, but it was still nice.
