If you're going to make it a night time map I suggest you really have to intensify the lighting, otherwise it will look moody and dark which works for most games but not one using a cartoon style. TF2 is a game that relies more on bright stand out visuals more than others do. Look at the stock night map in game (can't remember the name right now, the one with the bridge over a big chasm) while the sky is night, the lights are all very bright.
